Riviera Real Estate is proud to support the efforts of new generation of community advocates, architecture aficionados, and artistic types in singing the praises of a wonderful material. You’ve seen it, maybe even touched it, accidentally, but how much do you really know about Vinyl Siding?
Vinyl Siding Forever Foundation
Brooklyn is admired for its diverse and fascinating architectural history. Williamsburg is distinguished by its richness in one of modern Americas more misunderstood building materials: vinyl siding.
The Vinyl Siding Forever! Foundation was formed with the goals of elevating awareness and appreciation of this unique material. In addition to our awareness efforts, including TV advertisements, our magazine – Vinyl Now! Vinyl Forever! - radio program, podcasts, street teams, professional bowling league sponsorships, plus a line of beer coasters, bandanas and oven mitts, we are also deeply committed to our community giveback program: The Vinyl Solution.
The Vinyl Solution identifies communities in need and works with local groups to make some of the unsold inventory sitting around in our members’ warehouses available to folks with a hungry look in their eyes - and a decent nail gun.
Here in the tri-state area we are mindful of the fact that quite a few residents of Brooklyn’s established communities can no longer, or before long will not be able afford to live in the boroough. This is the American Way and we wouldn’t have it any Other Way. However we can help them hold on to their past by providing them with vinyl siding. For many it’s a little touch of home in a distant suburban miasma.
Simply Super Sundays Program: Vinyl Siding Frottage with T.W.A.T.’s
Hey, you live in Williamsburg; you got a little creative streak. That’s ok. Give it a little fresh air this fall with Billyburg’s T.W.A.T. (The Williamsburg Art Types) team. T.W.A.T. members will lead a vinyl siding hunt featuring frottage art produced in situ upon diverse examples of the genre.
These leisurely romps around the neighborhood will give you a chance to touch houses you normally wouldn’t even notice; by the end of the day you’ll be able to distinguish a vintage Richardson side from a new Aludure Everbright panel and have something to show for it too!
The Details:
When: every Sunday in October, 3pm Sharp
Where: in front of Riviera Gallery, 103 Metropolitan Gallery
What: All you need is some kind of pencil, whatever paper you got lying around, (Rauschenberg fans might want to try frottaging on already imaged paper) and the biggest thermos of bloody marys you can carry.
